The 5th Annual Wine Tasting sponsored by the Provost Guard of El Korah Shrine was held on May 11, 2013. It was another successful event with 5 Idaho wineries represented as well as Ballard Cheese serving the guests some of their fried cheese. As always the atmosphere was elegant with the String Quartet from Boise High playing background music for the guests’ enjoyment. The Ladies of the Provost Guard put together 9 baskets of goodies for door prizes as well as two giant baskets full of goodies for auction. As the pictures show, a wonderful time was had by all. Watch your calendars for the 6th Annual Wine Tasting in spring of 2014. Art Royce.

Published by El Korah Shrine in Uncategorized with no commentsTwenty-three rigs and a few day-trippers congregated at Snake River RV Resort in Homedale May 3-5. The RV park is grassed and goes right down to the river’s edge. Beautiful. The weather was outstanding. For three days, a very convivial group of approximately 50 Shriners and their ladies enjoyed happy hour and appetizers, shared meals, golfed, played dominoes, threw horse shoes & even watched the Kentucky Derby! Twas a wonderful time. Thanks in abundance for this trip’s hosts who made it all happen so seamlessly: Kathleen and Gary Portello, Sandy and Warren Hill and Barbara and Jim Stokes. Hats off, also, to the Trail bos

Clyde Schrader and his lady, Dana.

Ladies’ Luncheon – Ceremonial Weekend
Published by El Korah Shrine in Blog, Events with no commentsHATS were the big thing at El Korah Shrine Ladies’ Luncheon, Saturday, April 13th.
The luncheon was dedicated to our Shriners “Honored Ladies.” It was a full house and we all enjoyed our Mistress of Ceremonies, Ann Triplett, and the program and narration by Carolyn Blackwelder as Daughters of the Nile modeled hats from her Decades of Hats collection.
The luncheon was prepared and served by the now-famous El Korah chef, Davy Jones and his merry & excellent wait-staff.
Here is a thank you note I received yesterday, which eloquently sums up the affair:
“Dear Potentate Ron and Lady Sallie & Divan,
The Shrine Ceremonial Ladies’ Luncheon turned out to be a wonderful and joyful occasion. I want to thank you, big time, for recognizing we Honored Ladies. I know each and every one of us attending appreciated the praise and attention given to our past and present support of El Korah. We all have fond memories. After all, Shrine became our way of life.”
We all give our many thanks to Ellie Mastropaolo and Norma Randall for their creativity and unflinching dedication to putting on such a marvelous event. They had many wonderful helpers and our appreciation is heaped onto all of them, too!

Just a reminder of the special agenda for the stated meeting on April 10th. We will begin with a buffet ($7.50 per person) dinner at 6:15 PM. followed by two breakout sessions.
Breakout #1 is a very informative session on Elder Care legal issues and things we need to do as older Americans. It will be conducted by Donna Schuyler, a Boise Elder Care attorney.
Breakout #2 will be on effective and interesting ways to use Facebook, Twitter and other social media tools. It will be presented by Peppershock Media our public relations provider.
We expect the breakouts will conclude by 8 PM unless questions and answers go beyond that time.
Since this is an “open” meeting, it might be an opportunity to invite a friend or neighbor who is interested in Shriners to observe some of the things we do.
Join us!!!
Spring Ceremonial – Ladies’ Luncheon Sat., April 13, El Korah Shrine
Published by El Korah Shrine in Blog, Events with 1 commentThe luncheon Program will be a show of hats through the decades. Our speaker, Carolyn Blackwelder, will present “A Love Affair with Hats” using 10 models and historical explanations as they are presented for our viewing.
Carolyn began wearing hats early, playing dress up as a young girl. She’s saved nearly every hat she has owned. About 15 years ago with the help of grandmothers, aunts, and friends, she made her hats into a “real collection,” and one which has continued to grow. The collection grew to a point she set out on the adventure of Hat Fashion Shows. After much research of fashions through the years, she has arranged the hats into the decades they were worn. The collection now consists of over 300 hats ranging from the 1900′s to the present. Some of the hats are replicas, most are originals.
You are encouraged to wear your own favorite hat, from any era!
Luncheon Saturday, April 13th, at 11:30 am, El Korah Shrine, Tiger Room. Tickets: $15.00, available in the Recorder’s Office and from Divan Ladies.
Questions? Call Ellie Mastropaolo (938-4427) or Norma Randall 888-9079), co-chairs.

Published by El Korah Shrine in Blog with no commentsOur own El Korah Ballroom was one of several host locations for the music festival that ran Thursday, March 21 to Sunday, March 24. Bands and music lovers from all over came to join the festivities. This was only the second time the music festival has come to transform Boise, but certainly not the last!
We would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped out this weekend, it was a great success. What a crowd! We had hundreds of visitors who enjoyed our facilities and had wonderful things to say about El Korah.
